What is your field of research and why did you choose it?
I'm an immunologist; in particular, I'm studying the role of a protein LPAP in T cell signaling. I've been fascinated by the challenge of understanding the function of this protein in the process of immune cell activation.
Any advice for students interested in STEM?
1) Be curious
2) Do not ignore the (auto)biographies of scientists in both your own and related fields, as they serve as an endless source of inspiration and show you real world science placed within its historical context.
3) For biology students, do not underestimate math and statistics, you can't do science without them.
What is your passion project/hobby outside of science? Greek dancing
If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose? 25
If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you bring? I'm not sure I would survive with these items, but I would bring a knife, a book of poetry, and a mirror.
